Tapping Trees

I’ve mentioned that the Wild Center is making and branding their own maple syrup this year, but did I mention they’re collecting the sap from throughout Tupper Lake? I sent my mom to the last Pancake Breakfast and we’re on the list to have some trees tapped at the Camp! The Wild Center staff will be collecting the sap all Spring, then making their syrup right at the Wild Center. We were so inspired that we decided to tap the trees at our (regular) house as well! One weekend down and we already have 5 gallons of sap (don’t get too excited for us, it takes 15 gallons to make one gallon of maple syrup). The kids are having a blast with it and we can’t wait to share the fun with our guests at the Camp. If you’d like to learn more about maple sugaring, check out Maple Weekend March 16th and 17th–a fun event for the entire family and it’s free!
